FAQs
How long will it take to get my Approval?
Approval timeframes will vary depending on the complexity of your proposed development/works
and the type of Approval required.
What is the total cost for my Approval?
The costs can vary significantly depending on what and where you are building. Sometimes the
smallest projects are the most complex if you need to obtain additional approvals from other
Government Departments.
What Approval will I need?
This will depend on the proposed Development. If you require a Development Application (DA), then
you will also require a Construction Certificate (CC) to go with it. If it can be Complying Development,
you will only require the Complying Development Certificate (CDC). If you need a DA, we always
suggest you speak to a Duty Planner at your Local Council to help determine the best pathway for
the Approval.
What documentation is required?
It all depends on what you are building and how much assistance or input is needed from external
consultants like engineers, draftsmen, and the like.
Who can provide the Approval?
A Development Application (DA) and Construction Certificate (CC) is a two-stage approval process.
Your Local Council provides the DA and a CC can be provided by either the Council or a Private Certifier.
If you only need a Complying Development Certificate (CDC), it is often faster and more affordable to
go directly through a Private Certifier as it is a one-stage Approval process.
